Panic Attack Symptoms

Anxiety is a complicated and serious mental health issue to deal with. When it reaches the levels of a panic attack, it can be even more frightening and serious. However, not everyone is aware of what a panic attack is. This even includes those who may be suffering from such a problem and do not realize it. That is why it is important to understand the symptoms of a panic attack. Knowing the symptoms will allow the afflicted to seek the proper help needed to deal with the problem.

Also, knowing the symptoms can also provide a sense of relief. For many, the onset of a panic attack can be very frightening. In some instances, a panic attack can feel very much like a heart attack. This can be an extremely frightening scenario to experience. However, understanding whether or not a panic attack is occurring can reduce the fear. More importantly, understanding the symptoms always you to realize what is occurring which can lead to finding the proper treatment. So, let’s explore the common symptoms one will experience when a panic attack ensues.

A racing heart is probably the most common symptom. This is the symptom that mimics the sensation of a heart attack. Essentially, when anxiety levels reach a certain extreme point, the heart will start beating uncontrollably. This will lead to labored breathing and a pounding in the chest. As such, this symptom can be considered the most frightening component of a panic attack.

Chest pains. Obviously, this will tie into the previous example of a racing heart and its accompanying labored breathing. Such physical manifestations of a panic attack eventually ripple into even worse physical problems. Painful chest aches are simply a logical continuation of this symptom.

A dizzy sensation can come over a person who is in the midst of a panic attack. This could be caused for various reasons. The rapidly-beating heart and breathing that is laborious could cause the dizziness. Being overly nervous often times can be disorienting to people and make them feel lightheaded. This dizziness may also be accompanied by cold and hot flashes. When multiple symptoms come on at the same time, your mind gets totally disoriented most of the time.

Sweating excessive could be another problem caused by the elevated nerves that go with the panic attacks. Many may not think that sweating is an important symptom, but any symptom should be thought of as serious. This is because the panic attack is a serious situation to get control, of no matter what the situation.

For the most part, the most frightening symptoms of a panic attack episode, are the feeling of fear and desiring to escape. Several of the symptoms can make a person go berserk, and this could put them in danger. This is why it is some important for a panic attack to be considered a serious problem, the person going through a panic attack could also wind up having a dangerous problem.

While panic attacks are certainly a serious problem, they can be treated. This is why understanding the symptoms are so important. Such an understanding is a precursor to proper treatment.
